The State of Guerrero is south of Mexico City. It is known for Taxco on the north, near Cuernavaca, and Acapulco on the coast. However, in the middle of the state is an area with fiercely independent and highly creative people. One artist there, Agustin, pursues wood carving as a pastime in the ancient way. When the fields and animals don't need tending, he picks up a piece of a tree branch and makes an object. We are very fortunate to present this work in the LivelyArts Gallery. These objects are totally original, highly imaginative (including their names.) They make real statements in art and in interior decoration with fascinating forms and shadows.
